Notes

Daniel Newton was buried at St Mary, Ealing on August 6th 1816, age 56 years.

He was recorded in the 1811 census of Ealing as living in Old Brentford, a household of three including himself. A longer term project is to try and find where each family lived but this could take some time... He does not feature in the trade directories for 1793 or 1797 so at present it's not known which pub he ran.

All is not lost however, as just one Daniel Newton married in Middlesex at a date that fits with his birth and death dates and it was at Ealing, where he was buried. The marriage was by banns and took place in 1793, his wife's name, which I struggled to read in the will, was Rachel, and she was a widow, named HARDING.

William RUDLAND ran the Seven Stars at Half Acre in 1826 (trade directory). The other witness, from the militia, I have not succeeded in tracing. Did he happen to stay at the pub overnight and get asked to witness the will? There is a gap of several months between Daniel writing the will and dying so it cannot have been that urgent?
