St George's School Photo, Brentford, 1947Diane Elphick (Gardner) sent four class photos taken outside St George's School in 1925, 1926, 1930 and, below, around 1947. Mr DuBois features in all four as a teacher then here as headmaster. This photo shows 20 girls, many wearing hair ribbons, and 16 boys on a summer's day with headmaster Mr DuBois back left and and form teacher, possibly Mrs Inskip, top right. Diane adds: after Mr Dubois retired Mr Allen took over as head and Mr Church came as a teacher about 1948/9 and later became head. Mr Church introduced us to Local History, names of roads, the canal etc. making history relevant to us not just kings and queens. Paul Kirby spotted his aunt Stephanie Gomm on the front row, not so sure about Grace Gomm, next row back. They had an elder brother Alan born 1932 and sister Stella born 1934 (Pauls' mother), Wendy 1936, then Stephanie 1938 and Grace in 1939, all births registered in Brentford except Grace, the youngest, whose birth was registered in Bristol. Paul sent a photo showing he and his mum around 1965. The website has a good collection of school photos thanks to several contributors, including others of St George's School.
