Brentford Redevelopment, April 2021The south side of New Brentford is being redeveloped by Ballymore and areas of Old Brentford too, over coming years. Janet McNamara is keeping a photographic record, these were taken on 13th April 2021 and show St Lawrence's church, looking towards the High Street. There is a postcard view from over 100 years ago, taken from a similar position to the second photo - see link below. Janet adds there are hoardings around the site as the process of exhuming the 'new' burial ground commences. Phase I covers the 'new' 1884-1973 burial ground with around 918 burials. Discussions are ongoing regarding the 'old' burials ground (Phase II) and St Lawrence Church (Phase III). Ballymore's November 2021 newsletter: Sensitive exhumation works in Plot A were completed alongside the reinternment at Brookwood Cemetery (Woking, Surrey). BrentfordTW8 website has an update on the exhumations, 29 June 2021. Other photos by Janet charting the new development. Published 25 Apr 2021; updated December 2021 |
