Gwen Abigail's Tea Party ca 1917Roger Davis sent this charming photo showing an outdoor tea party for some little girls. It was taken around 1917 in the back garden of 59 Kew Bridge Road.
The hostess was Gwen ABIGAIL. A Gwendoline M. Abigail birth was registered in Brentford in the April-June quarter of 1911: maybe the party was to celebrate her 6th birthday. Perhaps Gwen has the ornate hat and larger doll. Roger's mother Rose HARRISON is the little girl on the left and like the other girls has spendid hair ribbons. Dolls and one teddy bear were also guests. Small china cups are visible and the party fare included fairycakes and possibly fruit, biscuits and sandwiches. More about Gwen AbigailGwendoline May Abigail was living with her parents at 50 Kew Bridge Road when the 1921 census was taken. She was only child of Percy ABIGAIL and Rose Olive HOOPER. In 1921 her father was a coal wharf clerk for N Pegg and Co. Ltd. at Kew Bridge Road. Gwendoline married George Leonard ROWELL at St Paul, Grove Park, Chiswick 17 Jul 1937.
