South Ealing Cemetery - Some Names
During April 2010 Janet McNamara kindly made notes of the names recorded on some of the older gravestones in South Ealing Cemetery.
The cemetery opened in 1861. Some of the earliest burials (1861 - 1867) are recorded in the parish register for St George's church, Old Brentford under the heading 'Burials in the New Burial Ground in the Parish of Ealing'.
The first burials took place on May 19 1861:
- Mary Ann STYLES, age 2, of Old Brentford
- Mary Ann SMITH, age 2, of Old Brentford
- Elizabeth HAMMERTON, age 90, of Chiswick
The previous burial took place in St George's churchyard: Walter CRADDUCK, age 5, of Old Brentford, on April 27 1861.
