1838 Tithe Apportionment for New Brentford - SummaryThe following summary is taken from the New Brentford tithe apportionment and lists the owners and the acreages of land they held. The final columns record the total rent charge due to be paid to the vicar.It shows the three individuals who owned the majority of the land by acreage were James CLITHEROW Esquire of Boston House; William CRIGHTON, who held land in The Butts and the High Street; William and Henry JUPP, maltsters, corn and coal merchants. The site has further information about these men and/or their property: The Clitherow family of Boston House; the sale of William Crighton's estate in 1838; and the Jupp family and its properties. The RONALDS family of nursery and seedsmen held just over two acres of land behind their home near St Lawrence's church, but was higher-valued and puts them into third position in terms of land value.
