Thrussington Glebe Terrier, 1601

The original is bound in a volume held at Lincolnshire Archives and consists of two pieces of paper, both sides used. Later glebe terries are at the Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland.

The document is in secretary script, quite tricky to read, and my transcription retains the original line breaks and spelling.

I have added the following:

  • Some abbreviations are expanded using square brackets, for example 'p[er]fect'
  • Any words lost due to edge damage are noted (lost)
  • Page breaks from the original are indicated in round brackets
  • Any uncertain words are included in round brackets with a ?, for example 'new (or mere?)'
  • A number in round brackets is added after each description of land (to help me summarise the content and compare with other terriers)
  • Notes in square brackets indicate corrections made at the time
  • Words inserted at the time are marked so: '^ buttyng upon the church hadland v'
