Brentford Locks around 1962

Three men working at Brentford Locks Paul Kirby reckons this photo was taken around 1962. 'My father (William Patrick Kirby) working on the locks at Brentford, he's the one on the right wearing the Beany hat'.

On Paul's birth certificate from 1961 his father's occupation was 'lock keeper'.

It is not known who took the photo or why, and it is not clear what work the men are doing. If anybody has any ideas please get in touch.

There is a photo of other lock keepers in 1973, one of the locks in 1973 that includes a map, and a view of Brentford Lock around 1975 - and more - try a search on 'lock' on the home page.

Paul has also written about his happy memories of Bangor Road.
