Postcard of Clifden Corner, Brentford, early 1900s

Sepia postcard of church and surrounding buildings

Roger Williams provided this Chester Vaughan postcard showing the junction of Windmill Road and Clifden Road.

The Wesleyan Chapel spire was erected in 1903 and from the style of the card I think it dates from 1903-1910.

The Georgian building on the right is Clifden House, which was a school in 1872, Brentford Library 1890-1904 and then used as the Brentford UDC offices until 1927. It was demolished in 1953.

'Brentford As It Was' has a photo showing the erection of the spire and 'Brentford and Chiswick As It Was' a photo of Clifden House, 1904.
