Not Brentford

Watney's delivery, King's Arms, summer 1972

Peter Young took this photo on 10 Aug 1972: the bright red Watney's tanker making a delivery to the King's Arms.

Watney's Red Barrel had a reputation for being sweet, fizzy and bland and got rather a hammering by CAMRA; sales in the UK stopped by 1980 but it was still sold abroad. Peter's photo captures the (approaching) end of an era.

Another of Peter's photos shows Brentford Central Station with the King's Arms nearby, taken a couple of months earlier.
