Not Brentford

Postcard showing east of Market Place, 1960s

Rather forlorn view of quiet High Street

The postcard, sent in 1967, shows the northern side of the High Sreet looking east. Market Place lies to the left, the 'Eel & Pie Shop' in Market Place faces the photographer. A little of County Parade shows on the right, then James Bradbury (grocers) at numbers 108/9 with the pointed and round gables.

The new building on the left occupies the site of the Red Lion (197 High Street) and was built in the 1960s.

Similar view taken in the 1950s.

Details of the properties on the left prior to re-building in the 1960s.
