Brentford Families - Webb and Harris

Pamela A. Moore from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada writes in January 2009:

'From your website, I see that Ferry Lane is one of the "Roads Off" High Street, Brentford and that the Watermans Arms at 1 Ferry Lane, Brentford, Isleworth, Middlesex is still in business, if I am to believe what I read on the internet.'

'My Grandmother was actually born in this pub in 1895, while her father was the "Licensed Victualler" there. His name was Charles Webb. I would be really interested to know if anyone else is searching Webb, as I do not know much about him, except that he was supposedly much older than my great grandmother and each of their four children were born in different pubs! '

'I have found him in the 1891 census listed as the publican of the Kings Arms on High Street in Hounslow, Isleworth, Brentford, Middlesex. His birthplace is listed as Wiltshire. My great grandmother, Emily Harris, is also working there, but they are not yet married, at the time of the census.'

'Three of their children were born in Middlesex, and I have found all three pubs. The youngest son was born in 1899 in Surrey at The Lodge, Weston Green, Thames Ditton, Kingston on Thames. I can find no record of this place called The Lodge. I am assuming that it was also a public house. It is only the Surrey pub that is giving me difficulty.'

'I would be pleased to correspond with any folks researching the Webb or Harris surnames in your project.'
